Two engines are available on the 2017 Volkswagen Beetle. Standard equipment includes a turbocharged 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 170 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque. The special R-Line trim level upgrades to a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that increases the performance to 210 horsepower and 207 pound-feet of torque. Both engines are sporty and fun.

When equipped with the base 1.8-liter engine, the 2017 Volkswagen Beetle earns an estimated 24 miles per gallon in the city and 33 miles per gallon on the highways. The more powerful 2.0-liter engine checks in at an estimated 23 miles per gallon in the city and 29 miles per gallon on the highways. A special dual-clutch transmission helps maximize the performance of the Beetle.

LSeveral standard and available technology systems help add to the safety of the 2017 Volkswagen Beetle. The car comes equipped with Volkswagen’s automatic post-collision braking system along with blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alerts and the intelligent crash response system.
